Hope you enjoy this trailer for the new T.J. Jackson Mystery, Spirits of the Pirate House, which is coming in September 2013. You can check it out at the Spirits page HERE. This great video was produced by Galatea Films. Kudos to my daughter Caroline for putting together a presentation that really captures the "spirit" of the novel!
By mutual agreement, we're rescheduling the July 23 library booktalk for the fall to maximize attendance. Hopefully we can secure an evening time slot. On the plus side, I'll be able to attend a showing of my daughter Caroline's film Us and Them at the Long Island International Film Expo! Check out the film's site at the festival HERE.
As of right now we're a go for a booktalk on Last Ghost at Gettysburg in the Memorial Room of the Fairfield Public Library's main branch on Post Road from 4PM-5:30PM on Tuesday, July 23. Books will be available for sale. Hope to see you there!
This past Saturday was my much-anticipated signing appearance at the Gettysburg Civil War Wax Museum that helped kick off Commemoration Week for the 150th anniversary of the battle. Maria (aka my agent) and I had a blast, and coordinators Tammy Myers and Marilyn Justice were wonderful. It's funny how Aunt Terri and Uncle Mike were making predictions in the book (2010) for what the 150th would be like in town...boy, were they right! I'm proud to say that on our signing day Last Ghost at Gettysburg outsold every author there (and there were many) except multiple New York Times bestseller Jeff Shaara (Gods and Generals), who by the way is a nice guy. I met great people from all over the country (some decked out in Civil War garb) who loved the concept of Last Ghost. Hopefully this success will lead to return visits, and the book being sold all over town. Maria and I also got to once again traverse the battlefield and take photos of many venues involved in the plot. A fun way to spend our 27th Anniversary! Hope you enjoy this small sampling of photos from a memorable day.
Monday evening I had a real treat: hanging out with the Westport Mysterious Book Society, middle school kids who share a mystery book and then come together for some pizza and lively discussion. For the first time ever, they had the author on hand-me! We talked about Last Ghost at Gettysburg and they offered great insight and asked questions. I also received a suggestion from one member which I fully intend to use in the next book. (Thanks, Josh!) Kudos to Kris Nash, who runs this fine forum.
As of this week you can order Last Ghost at Gettysburg in both paperback and Kindle on Amazon. This should make it much easier to enjoy the exploits of T.J. and his friends. I am asking anyone who has read the book to please offer a review on the Amazon website. This helps to keep the interest going and boost sales. Thanks for supporting T.J. Jackson Mysteries!
This past Sunday I had the pleasure of speaking at Essex Books at Gather in Ivoryton, CT. It was interesting and encouraging to present a Young Adult novel to a more "mature" audience, which included my talented sister, artist Carol Young. Thanks to proprietor Sue McCann for her hospitality and support! Check out her shop and the other establishments in this charming town.
Next stop: Monday June 10 with the Westport Mysterious Books Society, 6 PM at the Westport Public Library. On Wednesday evening, May 15, 2013, I did my first library book talk at the WPL. We had a great turnout consisting of Westport townspeople, my students and their parents. I was happy to tell them about the process that led to the publication of Last Ghost at Gettysburg and discuss the book itself and the future of T.J. Jackson Mysteries. Afterward, we sold a good number of books which I was happy to sign. Special thanks to Kris Nash for helping put the evening together.
Thanks to columnist Sally Allen for her review/interview piece on Last Ghost at Gettysburg. It was a pleasure speaking to her, and the results were spectacular. Read the article and I'm sure you'll agree.
